• Tomic in race to heal muscle tear

Tomic in race to heal muscle tear Australian Bernard Tomic is back at his Monte Carlo hoping that he can heal a small muscle tear suffered in his incomplete effort at the French Open.

He hopes to be ready in time for grass court play starting in June 10 at Queen's club, London.

Tomic lasted three sets before throwing in the towel on the clay of Paris. "Lucky, the injury's not huge," said the No. 61. "It's not eight weeks, it's not six weeks; probably just a week or two. So I'm going to try as much as I can to recover.

"I've got grass coming up, and it's going to be important for me to feel 100 per cent to play on my favourite surface."

Tomic refused to address the touchy subject of his father, who will go to trial in Madrid in October for an alleged attack on his son's former hitting partner.

But the younger Tomic has done his best to mentally bury the violent incident, which happened early in May. John Tomic has been banned from ATP events as well as the French Open and his status for Wimbledon remains uncertain. "Nothing's changed between my dad and I, it's still the same. Nothing's really changed."
