  • Asian tennis will fill December off-season

    5/27/13 4:10 AM | Johan Lindahl
Asian tennis will fill December off-season December becomes prime time for tennis in Asia as the much-hyped "off-season" takes a beating with the launched in late 2014 of the six-team International Premier Tennis League.

Set to sign on for the quick-hit payday headliners including Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and China's Li Na, among others. Doubles plyaer Mahesh Bhupathi is leading the organisation with Boris Becker an investor.

The competition, lasting for several weeks before Christmas, will play 30 ties on a home-and-away basis. But big-name absentees include Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova, who have already announced plans for exhibitions in South American during the tennis close season. A tour of the tennis-starved continent last December netted Federer a reported $14 million for a few weeks of work.

The new Asian league has the backing of Nadal's management, with the Spaniard quick to sign on. "It will be a big success for sure. I really look forward to be playing for a team and
especially in Asia, such an important place in the world of tennis," said Nadal in a statement.

Organisers said that the programme will be structured around five one-set matches using no-add a scoring. The ultra-light workload on court will comprise men and women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and men's legends singles. Much like the American NFL, players will be drafted by teams in an auction to be held in Melbourne next January, with prices expected to reach into the millions for the big names.

Among the legends expected to participate: Pete Sampras and Spain's Carlos Moya. Officials expected to have up to 100 players signed to contracts and available for the draft next January.

IQ..? ...17???

zare , 5/28/13 9:37 PM

zare,

I am afraid that you are being way too generous! I think we are talking about a negative IQ in this instance.

It's sad that someone would come on a tennis site and embarrass themselves in this way. Tsk, tsk!

Nativenewyorker , 5/28/13 10:17 PM

CBM, stop crawling up people's behind wishing they would show you some sympathy and pity. They may fart anytime and THAT would definitely be ugly!

Retard^^

Djokogod , 5/28/13 11:37 PM

JamesCrapperPhonyDjokovicFan,

Are you trying to get kicked off yet another tennis site? Careful or you will run out of places to post your putrid garbage!

Crawl back in your cave! Waste of life!

Nativenewyorker , 5/28/13 11:39 PM

LOL @ JDF. She and the rafatards just keep doing that, don't they!

Fedkovic23 , 5/28/13 11:53 PM

They do man! I am almost certain one of these days rafa will "dig" deep and pull one of these retards out in front of the whole world. Even by rafa's standards that would be embarrassing.

Djog/Zare, you both should go buy a spine and stop sucking up to rafatards in the hope that they may throw some morsels your way for trying to harass non-rafa fans.

And you should stop breastfeeding, you are too old jamesdjokovicfan

Rafa spends his life whining about the short off-season, while he spends the off-season playing exhibitions for uncle toni to make some cash. The miserable life of a individual without any independent personality. Sad to see parents sacrificing kid's life to achieve their goals. This tennis parent syndrome is just sad.

I wouldn't wish such a thing even on the worst of human-beings. If freedom and independence is lost, everything is lost.

Fedkovic23 , 5/29/13 12:08 AM

breast-feeding, abusing their own kids with sex toys - the rafatards are bending over backwards to bring humour to NNC's self-acknowledged "miserable and sad" life. Very funny efforts constipator and zare.

JamesDjokovicFan , 5/29/13 12:11 AM

JamesDjokovicFan I banged your mom. She was terrible.

LOL! who knows it might be our own very "special rafatards" mindy/crappyrator. Looks like Mindy has delegated her crawling up people's behind duties to crappyrator/scrotum!

Reading through these posts, written by Conspirator posing as *Scroracker* who is enamored with the male genitalia, I can't help but wonder by the moderators are allowing this perverted, sick, moronic, imbecile to continue writing such filth.

What have all the posts from jean, conspirator, willmw, djokogod have in common All perverted sick language and posting of links that are disgusting for even a male to view. Somebody needs to do something about this situation coz people are thinking that these posts are written by me, coz they are not paying clse attention to the fact that the screenname s distorted to represent a part of the male anatomy.

conspirator/willmw take your meds and stop with yur sick behavior.
