    Dusseldorf - Monaco moves on, Haas withdraws Third seed Juan Monaco booked a spot in the semifinals with a win over Tobias Kamke early Thursday. The Argentine is joined by 6th seed Jarkko Nieminen, who passed into the final four after Tommy Haas withdrew due to illness.

    Third seed Juan Monaco is through to the final four after taking out Germany's Tobias Kamke. The 29-year-old Argentine converted five of 6 break points through an hour and 11 minutes of play.

    "It wasn't easy to play, as it was very cold," Monaco explained. "I am happy to have reached the semifinals and I will have a difficult match against a baseliner tomorrow."

    Monaco is scheduled to face countryman Guido Pella for a place in the championship final. The qualifier defeated 7th seed Viktor Troicki in the quarterfinals, 7-6(5), 7-5.

    (6) Jarkko Nieminen def. (2) Tommy Haas (walkover)

    Sixth seed Jarkko Nieminen passed into the semifinal after 2nd seed Tommy Haas withdrew due to illness. The 35-year-old German cited a cold, leaving him unable to compete on Thursday.

    Nieminen is through to take on Igor Sijsling in the next round. The Dutchman dismissed veteran Jan Hajek in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-1.
