• Another day, another Nadal win over Berdych

Another day, another Nadal win over Berdych Rafael Nadal wins for the 13th time in his last 13 matches against Tomas Berdych as the Spaniard books a spot in the Rome final on Saturday. Next up for Nadal is either Roger Federer or Benoit Paire.

Rafael Nadal is one win away from his second consecutive Internazionali BNL d'Italia title after taking care of Tomas Berdych 6-2, 6-4 in the first semifinal on Saturday. Nadal converted three of four break-point opportunities and saved the only break point he faced to advance in just one hour and 17 minutes.

The Spaniard was 13-3 lifetime against Berdych heading into this one and more of the same continued right from the start. Nadal converted two break points in the opening set, both with powerful forehand winners, and he lost a mere one point in four service games. Berdych held for 2-5 before his opponent wrapped up the set with another routine hold.

"The first set was fantastic," said Nadal. "I played at a high level and everything went well with no mistakes. I was dominating the points and following to the net. I think I played one of my best matches since I came back."

Berdych, winless in his last 13 matches against the former world No. 1, at least made the second more competitive. When he cracked on serve at 4-4, however, it was all but over for the sixth-ranked Czech.

"He started really well and of course it's Rafa and we know how he plays on clay," explained Berdych, who was coming off a semifinal upset of top seed Novak Djokovic. "I had a chance that I didn't take and yesterday I had one chance that I did take and I won."

Next up for Nadal is a 30th career meeting with Roger Federer.

Berdych: "Nadal is better player now, nothing more to say"

honest and to the point.
That must have been one short press conference :)

I just think that Berdy has no belief when he plays Rafa. Also, I think he had to play his best to beat Novak. Beating both Novak and Rafa back-to-back is a tough thing to do. He was missing shots today that he made in the match against Novak.

Rafa really seems to have Berdy's number. He knows exactly how to play him. I think the first set of the match was the finest tennis Rafa has played since he came back in MC.
