  • Nadal keeps his focus on Rome instead of Paris

    5/15/13 3:28 PM | Johan Lindahl
Nadal keeps his focus on Rome instead of Paris Madrid winner Rafael Nadal continued his buildup on clay but is keeping his mind strictly on the job at hand at the Rome Masters.

The Spaniard doesn't want to let his imagination run free to the possibility of claiming an historic eight title at the French Open in a matter of weeks.

Nadal said that he prefers not to downgrade Masters 1000 tournaments by comparing them to the Grand Slams. "This tournament is important enough to not talk about Roland Garros. I am having a good clay season and I played two fantastic matches in Madrid and Barcelona (he won both titles).

"I think there is no effect with the result here and Roland Garros," the winner of five titles this season from seven starts said. "Here I think about Rome."

Nadal is concentrating on making the switch from the altitude of Madrid, where he beat Stanislas Wawrinka for that title, to sea-level Rome, where he owns six trophies.

"It feels a little bit different with the altitude and sea level. Playing two Master 1000s back to back is difficult when you are in the final rounds and have no time to prepare the next tournament. I'm just here to try my best."

Good job Rafa, 6-1, 1st set.

Appears everybody is just bringing the same game plan against Rafa, target his back hand and it's not working for the Fog......
