Murray continues clay-court campaign in Madrid World No. 3 Andy Murray returns to competition for the second week of May, as the ATP World Tour makes a stop in Madrid, Spain for the Mutua Madrid Open. The Scot is set to enter the Masters 1000 event as the second seed.

World No. 3 Andy Murray is back on court following a round of 16 finished at the Masters 1000 Monte Carlo. The 25-year-old won his opening-round match before falling to Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets. Murray will be making his seventh appearance in Madrid, where he sealed a title-winning run in 2008 (def. Simon).

"It does take me time to feel comfortable on (clay)," Murray confessed. "I need matches against top players to see what's going wrong and what's going right, things I need to work on to get better. Normally towards the end of the clay court season, I start to feel better with my game and I've had some good results, but at the start I have struggled a little bit."

Murray leads a competitive quarter of the draw that includes (6) Tomas Berdych, (9) Janko Tipsarevic and (16) Gilles Simon. Additional players in the section are Jeremy Chardy, Horacio Zeballos, Julien Benneteau, Juan Monaco, Kevin Anderson, Jerzy Janowicz and Sam Querrey.

After a first-round bye, Murray is scheduled to open his campaign against either veteran Florian Mayer or Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci.
