Tursunov runs through Istomin in Barcelona opener Dmitry Tursunov secured a win over Denis Istomin on the first day of play at the Barcelona Open.

While the top seeds got a bye into the second round, the rest of the men's field has to work to advance.

Russia's Dmitry Tursunov, on his way back up the rankings and sitting at No. 66 in the world, had a fairly easy day at the office, with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over world No. 49 Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan.

The difference in this match came down to the big points. Tursunov was simply better when it mattered. He fought off all four break points against him and managed to snag a break of serve in each set for the tidy win.

The win sends the Russian into the second round against top seed David Ferrer.
