Tsonga rallies to beat Wawrinka, Nadal next World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is through to the final four after rallying to oust fellow seed Stanislas Wawrinka in three sets. The Frenchman moves on to face eight-time defending champion Rafael Nadal in the next round.

World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga secured a place in the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters with a three-sets defeat of Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka. The 28-year-old Frenchman collected 6 aces and a pair of service breaks through to a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Tsonga is through to take on eight-time defending champion Rafael Nadal, who held on to upend Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in three sets.

“It's an incredible challenge,” Tsonga assessed. “He won eight times here. Anything I might achieve will be just a bonus for me. I have no longer any pain in my legs because I know I'm going to play a player that's a lot better than I am on clay. But I do have some weapons. I have everything to win and nothing to lose.”

By virtue of Friday's win, Tsonga advances to his first Masters 1000 semifinal since 2011, when he made the final in Paris (lost to Federer).
