Fognini rolls on in Monte Carlo with win over Gasquet It's another upset victory for the Italian Fabio Fognini. The crowd-favorite took out Frenchman Richard Gasquet to earn a spot in his first Masters semifinal.

This quarterfinal match featured some spotty play in the beginning from both Fabio Fognini and Richard Gasquet, but in the end, the on-fire Italian pulled out the win 7-6(0), 6-2.

The first set wasn't great from either man, but it was Gasquet who was the more lackluster. The crowd, part French, part Italian, had trouble getting into the match, as there were four service breaks to force the tiebreaker.

Gasquet was dismal in the tiebreaker; the Frenchman struggled to get a first serve in and Fognini rolled through without giving up a single point.

Fognini dialed in in the second set, delighting the crowd with some truly winners, including a few directly off the return.

The win sends Fognini into the semifinals where he takes on Novak Djokovic, who still seems to be having some difficulties with the ankle he tweaked during Davis Cup.
