  • Officials say Djokovic set to play Monte Carlo

    4/16/13 6:18 PM | Johan Lindahl
Officials say Djokovic set to play Monte Carlo Monte Carlo Masters officials had a major weight lifted from their shoulder as Novak Djokovic said he's fit enough to take his place in the draw of the opening European clay event of the French Open run-up.

The Serb will take his position as top seed after days of treating a badly injured right ankle paid off.

Djokovic hurt his ankle nine days ago during a Davis Cup victory in Idaho over the US and has been getting intense treatment and rehab ever since. He said this week he would make a late decision on whether he could start and confirmed the good news to tournament director Zeljko Franulovic.

Djokovic will start in the second round after a bye against Russian Mikhail Youzhny, who stands 3-4 in his series and last faced the Serb in 2010.

Djokovic, who won the Australian Open for a third straight year, heads a field featuring Andy Murray as second seed and Rafael Nadal making a bid for a history-making ninth straight title at the event.

Ajde Nole! Humble and Confident.

I'm glad Nole will be pounding the pavement along with the other guys, although it won't be easy if his ankle is still hurting. There's also a greater risk of another injury, but Nole's a professional and I'm sure he's aware of all that.

^^^thank goodness for you maya and your wonderful insights!
Be sure not to hide those sparkly lights under the bushel ever again eh?
;)

Oh and 'pounding the pavement' is not relevant to the clay court matters at hand now is it Maya dear?
I think we all know that comes with the hard courts and all they promise to certain players knees ;)
Yes there's your pavements for all to see!
Not that you where at all thinking about such matters.
No, not at all.......

chr18/twinge - So how do you feel about Nole playing MC? Lol. Your right, should have said "pounding the clay along with the other guys". The last time Nole didn't play MC, he beat Rafa at Madrid, and Rome, and I'd rather that not be the case this year. And listen, feel free to comment on all my posts. It's rather endearing.

"And listen, feel free to comment on all my posts. It's rather endearing..."

Trust me Maya,
That endearing feeling will pass...

If he is playing, I am sure his ankle is not hurting...lets focus on the games and forget about the ankle or knees etc.
