Isner wins Houston title Fifth seed John Isner secured his sixth ATP World Tour title with a straight-sets dismissal of top seed Nicolas Almagro. The American won Sunday's championship match in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.

World No. 23 John Isner added ATP World Tour title number six to his resume, having ousted top seed Nicolas Almagro Sunday afternoon. The 27-year-old American converted three of 9 service games en route to a 6-3, 7-5 victory.

Trailing 1-3 in the opening set, Isner rallied to win four consecutive games to 5-3. Triple set point came in short order for the American, who closed on an unreturned serve. A tight second set had no break chances for either player until 5-5. Isner missed four break points before pulling to 6-5, courtesy of a backhand miss from Almagro.

Isner completed the championship effort with 7 aces and 30 of 40 first-service points captured.
