• Raonic seals the deal for Canada

Raonic seals the deal for Canada Top Canadian Milos Raonic anchored his team to its best Davis Cup showing, with a trip into the semifinals.

After a tight doubles victory for the Canadian team of Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil over Daniele Bracciali and Fabio Fognini, the final match win of the tie fell to Milos Raonic.

Canada's biggest star rose to the challenge with the full support of the partisan Vancouver crowd, defeating Italian No. 1 Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

It was all Raonic in the first two sets. As he had in his first rubber of the tie, Seppi took a while to warm up. Raonic and his big first serve zipped through the first two sets, before the Italian found his groove in the third.

Seppi finally managed to secure a break of the Raonic serve in the third set, the only break of the match for Seppi and enough to give him the third set.

But Raonic was not deterred. He bounced right back in the fourth set, awaiting the opportunity to find purchase on Seppi's serve. He got his chance with the Italian serving to stay in the match. A small let-down was all Raonic needed. The Canadian secured the break and with it the win for Canada.
