    Monaco levels for Argentina World No. 19 Juan Monaco leveled the tie at 1-1 for host nation Argentina, following his straight-sets victory over France's Gilles Simon. World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga had given France a 1-0 edge with a win over Carlos Berlocq.

    Former World No. 10 Juan Monaco earned a critical singles point for Argentina late Friday, having ousted former World No. 6 Gilles Simon. The 28-year-old converted six of 12 break points en route to a 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-4 victory in two hours and 30 minutes. Simon, who replaced fellow Frenchman Richard Gasquet, committed 68 unforced errors during the match.

    Jo-Wilfried Tsonga def. Carlos Berlocq 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2

    World No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the first point of the quarterfinal with a five-sets defeat of veteran Carlos Berlocq. The Frenchman tallied 5 aces and 68 winners through three hours and 53 minutes of play. Tsonga completed the extended match with 78% of his first-service points captured.

    Doubles competition is set to begin on Saturday, with former World No. 3 David Nalbandian and partner Horacio Zeballos taking on Michael Llodra and Julien Benneteau.
