  • Uncertain Fish takes wildcard into Challenger

    4/5/13 3:32 AM | Johan Lindahl
Uncertain Fish takes wildcard into Challenger Mardy Fish has revealed no definite plans after pulling the plug last month on his latest proposed return to steady ATP play, with the American still skittish after his 2012 heart-scare health drama.

While revealing nothing more of his long-term plans, the No. 42 did accept a wild card entry into a Georgia Challenger event from April 20 n Savannah. Others in the $50,000 field include Wayne Odesnik, Ivo Karlovic, Bobby Reynolds and Donald Young.

Fish, 31, who once stood inside the top 10, has not played regularly since losing in the US Open last September. Prior to that he was plagued by an irregular heartbeat which began troubling him in February, 2012 and which led to a medical procedure last May.

He played from Wimbledon through the US Open before withdrawing in New York prior to a fourth-round match with Roger Federer. Fish attempted another return last month, winning a round at Indian Wells before announcing that his tennis future was uncertain and that no more progress reports would be forthcoming regarding his intentions.
