  • Canada and Italy do battle on Canadian indoor hard courts

    4/5/13 4:01 AM | Cheryl Murray
Canada and Italy do battle on Canadian indoor hard courts The Canadian Davis Cup team will clash with the Italians to move into the World Group semifinals.

Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic are on tap for the Canadian side as they once against host Davis Cup festivities in Vancouver.

The Canadians, predictably, chose indoor hardcourts for their quarterfinal rubber against the Italian clay courters Andreas Seppi and Fabio Fognini. The courts not only favor the big-hitting games of Raonic and Pospisil, but it makes life difficult for the Italians, who prefer European clay over North American cement.

The Canadians will be favored to come out on top in this tie. Raonic enjoys playing for the home crowd, and his big serve will surely do damage to both Seppi and Fognini.

Prediction – The Canadians through to the semifinals.
