Murray rallies to reach Miami final World No. 3 Andy Murray advanced to the championship final after rallying to defeat World No. 10 Richard Gasquet late Friday. The Scot is through to take on World No. 5 David Ferrer for the title.

Second seed Andy Murray is through to the final match of the tournament after rallying to oust fellow seed Richard Gasquet. The 25-year-old Scot tallied 36 winners en route to a 6-7(3), 6-1, 6-2 semifinal victory.

With the match split at a set apiece, Murray broke twice to 2-1 in the final set. The World No. 3 took an insurance break at 4-2, courtesy of an errant forehand from the Frenchman. Murray reached double match point at 5-2, closing with an unreturned serve.

“The first set was a tough one to lose, because I obviously served for the set. Then at the end of the set, you look up at the stats and I had hit over 20 winners and lost the set,” Murray explained. “So I realized I had to cut out the unforced errors. I did a good job of that. Halfway through the second set, I started to find the right way to play and the right shots to go for. I did well after that.”

The Scot completed the winning effort with 6 aces and seven of 8 break points converted.

He will take on third seed David Ferrer in Sunday's championship title match. The Spaniard rallied to upend 15th seed Tommy Haas in the semifinal, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
