  • Haas sinks Simon

    3/28/13 3:30 PM | Kelli DeMario
Haas sinks Simon Fifteenth seed Tommy Haas is through to the final four in Miami after ousting 11th seed Gilles Simon in straight sets. The veteran moves on to face World No. 5 David Ferrer for a place in the final.

World No. 18 Tommy Haas advanced to the semifinal following his straight-sets ousting of World No. 13 Gilles Simon. The 34-year-old German held eight consecutive service games en route to a 64-minute victory, 6-3, 6-1.

“The first break in the match at 4-3 was the key. That was a long game,” Haas explained. “I played some good points when it came down to it, which I am proud of, and then served out the first set. I felt pretty comfortable after that. I used my chances right away in the second set and took that momentum. Again, I played the way I wanted to, using my all-around game and variety. I think I did that pretty well tonight.”

After winning the opening set, Haas went on to lead 4-0 in the second. He ended the match with four of 8 break points converted.

Haas is through to take on 3rd seed David Ferrer in the semifinal.

Haas of yesteryear, isn't it?

deuce , 3/29/13 8:57 AM

Deuce. I think it was a Ricky wind-up of Kelli

I think so. Haas is quite a handsome man, isn't he? Even at age 35 he still looks good. However, no one beats Safin, the no.1 good looking (and sexy) guy in the tour.

Lucky, normally I have great respect for your tennis judgement but when it comes to men - the above has me scratching my head ;-)

I recall Kelli fancied him something rotten.

ed251137 , 3/29/13 12:32 PM

Lol ed., some women just lerve bad boys...;)

deuce , 3/29/13 3:02 PM

No, I don't love bad boys but I certainly can appreciate 'beauty'! Ha ha!

Having said that, I thought Rafa was one sweet and beautiful boy when he was younger. Now that he has grown into a fine young man, he's getting more and more handsome by the day. I believe some or many think he's 'hot' too, but I still like that wild boy from Mallorca!

luckystar , 3/29/13 3:41 PM

Just teasing u lucky...;)
However, gotta say Marat was a heck of a fine tennis player. Bit of a nutter as well of course.
I remember saying I find Chardy very attractive and ed fainted with shock and had to be revived with smelling salts...;)

deuce , 3/29/13 4:06 PM

Yep, I would have the same reaction like Ed's about Chardy!

luckystar , 3/29/13 4:20 PM

It's Rafa's combination of little boy innocence and macho Spanish that is so devastating.
He knows he has what it takes but he doesn't flaunt it unless he is asked to on photoshoots or a filmset.

Since we are on the subject, has anyone noticed Roger has sexy legs. Pity about the rest of him. lol.

However I rather agree with Mummy Murray - Feli is seriously attractive even if he is a touch too conceited about his looks.

ed251137 , 3/29/13 5:02 PM

Yep Feli has good looks but no where near Safin's. Still, Rafa is my favorite boy, agree about Rafa being devastatingly attractive because of his boy/man and sweet innocence/ macho sexiness all in one.

luckystar , 3/29/13 5:19 PM

ed., I've seen Lopez at Queens and gotta say in the flesh he was a HUGE let down :( Scrawny legs too *shocking.*
Marin was more gorgeous *simper.*
Must say Mr Murray has a fine pair of legs....

deuce , 3/29/13 5:35 PM

I think many of them are gorgeous, men and women. Marin, Gulbis, Berdych, Feli, Verdasco, of course dear Rafa.

luckystar , 3/29/13 5:52 PM

I saw Lopez play Henman live at Wimbledon and I didn't think anything of him, frankly. I was almost sitting on the court so I got a good view. I've seen Rafa play live 4 times and he lives up to my expectations.

deuce, you need to tell Murray to slow down on the physique. When I saw him in AD, his legs were huge...................too much of one thing .............. Someone emailed SKY yesterday to say that Andy's clothes are too tight and Peter Fleming suggested that he, maybe, trying to emulate Rafa who wears skin tight clothes to show off his physique.

@ nadline
I think his clothes are to do with his sponsor, don't think Andy bothers much such things. If u c pictures of him in London he's always dressed really casually in hoodies and jeans whereas Fed always looks immaculate.
Dunno about the extra "beef" either. May make Andy feel more confident even? However, agree enough already. Presume if it slows him down, he'll lose some pounds.

This is disgusting, grown women lusting after defenseless young men..........get a hold of yourselves. Or at the very least, tone it down.

rafaisthebest , 3/29/13 7:05 PM

"defenseless young men" Where, where? *Rushes out of room with binoculars*...;)
Meanwhile back to tennistalk and Haas making up for lost time. Wow!

isn't that why there are more women than men watching tennis ;-)
