Second seed Andy Murray is not bothered in the slightest by the VIP absences of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at the Miami Masters. For the Scot, it might just make life on court that little bit easier.
Federer is taking a pre-planned training break while Indian Wells champion Nadal is resting his knees in preparation for the clay season starting in less than a month in Monte Carlo.
Murray, second in the Miami field behind Novak Djokovic, says that just because the pair of drawcards and multiple Grand Slam champions are out of the mix is no reason for others to let their guard down. "It's not every tournament where you have to play against Nadal and Federer. Sometimes they lose early or whatever.
"You need to make sure that you get into a position in the event where you would have to play them, which is normally in the semi-finals or finals. But for sure not as difficult if you don't have two of the best players ever playing in a tournament."
