Djokovic destroys Tsonga, into Indian Wells semis Novak Djokovic blitzes Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets on Friday in Indian Wells. Djokovic will go up against Juan Martin Del Potro for a spot in the title match.

Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have battled each other in a few thrillers in the past. Friday's quarterfinal at the BNP Paribas Open was not one of them.

Djokovic crushed Tsonga 6-3, 6-1 in a mere 54 minutes to book a spot in the semifinals alongside Juan Martin Del Potro. The world No. 1 dropped only five points in eight service games while striking eight aces without double-faulting.

Tsonga surrendered his own serve twice in each set and he was completely hopeless after getting broken at 3-5 in the opener. In fact, the eighth-ranked Frenchman did not even win a single return point in the entire second set. A final hold by Djokovic at 5-1 put a merciful end to the proceedings.

"I'm disappointed about my feelings today and the whole match," Tsonga lamented. "I made a lot of mistakes. It was tough for me to keep the ball in the court. Not because he put me under a lot of pressure. I don't know how to explain that, but it was a day for me without sensation. Everything I tried to do, I missed it."

"I didn't allow him to come back to the match," Djokovic explained. "I didn't allow him to have an opportunity to believe that he can maybe have a break back and get back into the match. So that was very important for me to stay mentally committed throughout the whole match."

I think credit should be given where it is due and credit for Nole's great performance should be given to Tsonga.
