Murray makes quarterfinal, Del Potro next World No. 3 Andy Murray is through to the final eight at the BNP Paribas Open, having held on to oust veteran Carlos Berlocq in straight sets. The third seed moves on to face World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro in the next round.

World No. 3 Andy Murray made the quarterfinal following his straight-sets ousting of Argentina's Carlos Berlocq. The 25-year-old Scot converted four of 10 break points en route to a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory in an hour and 57 minutes.

"It was tough," Murray confessed. "He started well and he was playing very aggressive. He had a lot of chances in the first set. He obviously served for it. And then the second set was kind of the other way around. I had a lot of chances, but it was still tight. All the games were pretty close, a lot of long games and longish rallies."

After trailing by an early service break in the opening set, Murray rallied to secure the tie-break at 7-4. The World No. 3 broke to 2-0 in the second, eventually reaching match point at 5-4. He completed the effort with 8 aces and 37 of 47 first-service points captured.

Murray is through to take on World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro for a place in the semifinal.
