World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro advanced to the quarterfinal at the Masters 1000 Indian Wells with a straight-sets drubbing of Tommy Haas late Wednesday. The Argentine is through to take on Andy Murray for a place in the semifinal.
Juan Martin Del Potro secured a quarterfinal berth by virtue of his straight-sets ousting of Germany's Tommy Haas. The 24-year-old Argentine converted five of 11 break points through to a 6-1, 6-2 win in 66 minutes.
"I think it was my best match of the tournament, for sure," Del Potro assessed. "I played so solid on the baseline, trying to hit hard the ball with my forehand. I served well, and that's what I need to play against Murray in the next round. Be aggressive all the time and find the lines with my forehands and serves."
Del Potro led 4-0 in the opening set and 3-0 in the second. The World No. 7 ended the night with seven of seven service games held.
He is through to take on world No. 3 Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.
