Federer destroys Dodig, Gulbis digs out win against Seppi Roger Federer delivered another excellent performance in Indian Wells, this time with a win over Croatia's Ivan Dodig, while Ernests Gulbis came back from a set down to defeat No. 20 seed Andreas Seppi.

Roger Federer (2) def. Ivan Dodig 6-3, 6-1

Defending champion Roger Federer spent just over one hour on court dispatching of Croatia's Ivan Dodig. The Croat actually had a few opportunities to at least break the Federer serve in this third round encounter, but he went 0 for 4 on break chances.

Federer proved far more opportunistic. The Swiss man converted all three of the break points he had against Dodig, and he secured breaks early enough in each set that Dodig never really had much of chance to get a foothold.

The win sends Federer closer to a possible quarterfinal showdown with Rafael Nadal.

    Ernests Gulbis (Q) def. Andreas Seppi (20) 5-7, 6-3, 6-4

Ernests Gulbis, who has been seemingly unstoppable in the past two tournaments, is still ranked low enough that he had to qualify to earn a spot in the main draw this week. He upset Feliciano Lopez in the first round, and then took out No. 9 seed Janko Tipsarevic and now No. 20 Andreas Seppi as he earns a spot opposite Rafael Nadal in the round of 16. The Latvian has now won 13 straight matches in a row.

For a while in the first set, Gulbis looked like he reverted back to his old self. He raced out to a 4-0 lead, only to drop the next four games to an inspired Seppi and eventually the first set.

But Gulbis righted the ship and kept his head in the second set. Seppi's level dropped just enough to allow Gulbis back in the match and once he was, he rolled through the set to level the match at a set apiece.

The third set was entertaining, with Gulbis finally getting the break as the match wound down.

Gulbis' level goes up and down every few minutes. He's a hot tempered one.Dodig played well at first.Federer seemed to injure himself when Dodig played a lob to his backhand side.

?I?m telling you,? Gulbis said, ?if I?m going to hit a winner it?s gonna be a winner. Doesn?t matter if it?s gonna be Nadal or whoever. I?m going to go for my shots. Maybe it?s going to take me two shots. But I'm going to be ready for it. One shot one corner, other shot other corner. I want to see him get it.?

We gonna see, no?

Gulbis and his big mouth and ego are beyond annoying! However, his weakness is that temperament that he said was like Safin. I hope that Rafa can get under his skin and maybe get him to have another meltdown and smash his racket!
