Third seed Tomas Berdych is through to the final after rallying to dismiss defending champion Roger Federer, 3-6, 7-6(8), 6-4. The Czech struck eight aces through two hours and 18 minutes of play.
Federer looked to have the match in control with double match point at 6-4 in the tiebreak. The defending champion missed both chances, but took another at 8-7. A steadied Berdych saved the third, then went ahead 3-2 in the final set. The world No. 6 reached his first match point at 5-3 on the Federer serve, but was unable to convert. He will take on world No. 1 Novak Djokovic on Saturday. The top seed defeated fourth seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals, 6-3, 7-6(4).
