Nicolas Almagro and David Ferrer moved into the semifinals with wins on Thursday evening.
Nicolas Almagro (3) def. Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-4
Spaniard Nicolas Almagro put in another impressive performance in Acapulco, this time against Vina del Mar champion Horacio Zeballos. This match was more one-sided than the scoreline suggests. Zeballos was completely shut down on the return. He didn't earn a single break point chance for the match.
Almagro wasn't as ruthless on the return as he was on his serve, but he got the job done with a break of serve in each set. The match was over in an hour and 10 minutes and the Spaniard finished with 10 aces and no double-faults.
Almagro awaits the winner of Rafael Nadal and Leonardo Mayer in the semis.
David Ferrer (1) def. Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 6-1
Defending champion David Ferrer continued his outstanding form in Acapulco with an easy straight-set win over Italian Paolo Lorenzi. Ferrer had a little hiccup in the first set, giving back one of his breaks of serve. He was still in control of the match, but he really steamrolled Lorenzi in the second set.
The Italian didn't have any break points as Ferrer closed out the final set with breaks of three of Lorenzi's four service games.
Ferrer will face Fabio Fognini in the semifinals.
