Sagging Serb Janko Tipsarevic has been trying to end a run of poor form which began with a foot injury at the Australian Open.
But after losing in the first round of Dubai to Nikolay Davydenko, Tipsarevic won't be working on his game at the upcoming Davis Cup quarter-final tie in the US.
The world No. 9 has decided to miss the tie, which will be held in the windswept central plains area of the US in Boise, Idaho April 5-7.
The 28 year-old right-hander from Belgrade also didn't play in the first round win over Belgium in which Djokovic contributed a quick singles win. But Tipsarevic is convinced he won't be missed in Idado. "Our team has a very strong team with the world No. 1 at the helm. "I'm sure that without me they can achieve fantastic results."
He is likely to be replaced by world No. 174, Boris Pashanski. Tipsarevic has called skipping the Davis competition "one of the hardest decisions that I had to make in my career."
