World No. 1 Novak Djokovic passed into the second round in Dubai after taking out compatriot Viktor Troicki in 67 minutes. The three-time former champion secured the first-round victory, 6-1, 6-4.
Novak Djokovic improved to 9-0 for the season following his straight-sets ousting of countryman Viktor Troicki. The 25-year-old, who extends his lead to 13-1 over his compatriot, needed just 67 minutes to seal the victory, 6-1, 6-4.
Djokovic needed only 20 minutes to build a 5-1 advantage in the opening set. Triple set point came quickly for the top seed, who closed with an unreturnable serve. Djokovic led 3-1 in the second set before dropping to 4-4 on a backhand wide. The world No. 1 immediately broke back, taking a 5-4 edge on an error from Troicki.
Djokovic is scheduled to take on Spain's Roberto Bautista-Agut in the next round.
