• Berdych, Del Potro lead the way in Marseille

Berdych, Del Potro lead the way in Marseille Tomas Berdych, who pulled out of Montpellier to rest, will try again, this time in Marseille for the Open 13. He will be joined by newly crowned Rotterdam champion Juan Martin Del Potro and top Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Provided there aren't withdrawals, Marseille managed to secure a good field this year. The tournament will headline with Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Juan Martin Del Potro. But it also includes hometown favorites Richard Gasquet, the No. 5 seed, and No. 6 Gilles Simon.

Top seed Berdych should be fairly well-rested, but he is looking at a second-round match against either Jarkko Nieminen or wildcard Ernests Gulbis and perhaps even more dire, a possible third-round matchup against Rotterdam finalist Julien Benneteau.

Del Potro is slated to head the bottom section of the draw. The Argentine is the defending champion in Marseille, a feat he accomplished after making the final in Rotterdam. Del Potro played the same number of matches this year, except that he has a title to show for his efforts this time around.

Del Potro shares his half of the draw with a load of Frenchman, including Tsonga, Gasquet, and Simon. Given Del Potro's exertions from last week, look for a Frenchman to come through the bottom section, with Gasquet and Tsonga both leading the way as candidates.
