Home court advantage will favor hosts Italy, as they go up against Croatia on the red clay.
The Italians will hope that the clay is slow enough on Friday to diffuse the power of big hitters Ivan Dodig and Marin Cilic. Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi, both of whom could accurately be termed clay-courters will look to the the slow indoor surface in Turin to give them a leg up over the Croats.
Cilic will begin proceedings against Fognini, with Seppi and Dodig following with the second rubber.
The Croats have a big weapon in Cilic, but Dodig is a loose cannon. The world No. 59 had a respectable 3rd round showing at the Australian Open, but he lost in the first round in Doha.
Seppi and Fognini are probably a better bet on the dirt than Cilic and Dodig, but don't be surprised if Croatia, with the help of Cilic, manages to take a couple of rubbers.
