• Tomic speeds into more police trouble

Tomic speeds into more police trouble Bernard Tomic has possibly marred up his recent tennis rehabilitation in the eyes of the Australian public as the Queensland hothead lost his driving license after being nabbed for speeding.

The world No. 43, who got as far as the Australian Open third round before running into Roger Federer, was cited for doing 78km/h in a 60km/h in his bright yellow Ferrari.

Tomic got a $220 ticket but enough penalty points to see his license lifted. Had he not been banned from this weekend's Davis Cup zonal tie in Taiwan for a lack of effort last season, the 20-year-old-would not have been behind the wheel.

Tomic, who had run-ins with local Gold Coast authorities a year ago including a stand-off at his family home, was already driving on a 12-month good behavior license. He had previous sold his high performance orange BMW, which he had been driving with special dispensation on a learner permit in 2012 as a teenager.

Tomic has found other off-court trouble, including a fight last autumn at a luxury Gold Coast spa which also involved police.

If he was as good as he thinks he is he could be a flawed genius, but as it is he's just a flawed person. Silly little boy.

Tomic is already greatest.

Bad boys were greatest:
McEnroe - tennis
Best - soccer
Tyson - boxing
Tomic - ???

Last season, Tomic spent almost as much time in a criminal court as he did on a tennis court :P But seriously, all we can tell from this is that he isn't a good driver(safety wise) and to be fair, there are plenty of people out there who are like that. As for his talent, I feel he has the potential to win a slam, but has plenty work to do.

There are a few young players who have the potential to win a slam. It takes a lot more than potential to win a slam. There have been too many young guys who came long with tons of talent and all the potential in the world, only to crash and burn and sink into oblivion. Gulbis, anyone?

The issue with Tomic is his commitment and willingness to put in the effort and hard work to practice and hone his skills and fitness. Is he really focusing on becoming a better tennis player? Or is he just having fun driving recklessly and not being disciplined.

He has been banned from the DC in Taiwan for lack of effort. That's not a good thing for a young tennis player who is supposed to be promising and have real prospects.

I agree 100% with NNY's post.
