Murray makes round of 32 World No. 3 Andy Murray advanced to the third round at the Australian Open after downing Portugal's Joao Sousa in straight sets. The reigning US Open champion is through to face Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis for a place in the round of 16.

Third seed Andy Murray extended his campaign at the Australian Open with a straight-sets ousting of Portugal's Joao Sousa. The 25-year-old Scot tallied 14 aces and 28 winners en route to a 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 victory in 101 minutes.

After winning the opening set, Murray went on to lead 4-0 in the second set and 2-0 in the third. The world No. 3 completed the match with five of 8 break points converted.

"It's good to get it done in three sets because physically, it's very demanding," Murray explained. "When you're playing in that heat, it's very, very difficult to focus when you're really out of breath."

Murray is scheduled to take on Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis in the next round. The qualifier upset 25th seed Florian Mayer in round two, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1.
