Murray continues bid on Thursday World No. 3 Andy Murray is set to continue his quest for a second Grand Slam title, as he takes the court against Portugal's Joao Sousa. The 25-year-old Scot is seeking his 6th consecutive victory of the season.

Third seed Andy Murray kicked off the 2013 Australian Open with a straight-sets defeat of Dutchman Robin Haase. The reigning US Open champion converted eight of 13 break points through to a 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 victory in 97 minutes.

"There are nerves in the buildup. You just got to try and focus and play solid, not make too many silly mistakes. I did a good job of that today. It's always nice to get through the first round of any tournament, but especially here," said the third seed.

Murray will be looking to reach his fifth consecutive round of 16 in Melbourne.

World No. 100 Joao Sousa recorded his first victory at the Australian Open, having ousted native John-Patrick Smith in straight sets. The 23-year-old is seeking his 13th career win a main-draw event.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.
