    Del Potro advances, Monfils downs Dolgopolov Sixth seed Juan Martin Del Potro moved into the second round after crushing France's Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The Argentine is joined in round two by former world No. 7 Gael Monfils, who beat 18th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.

    World No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro is through to the second round by virtue of his straight-set ousting of qualifier Adrian Mannarino. The 24-year-old Argentine tallied 7 aces and 24 winners through 76 minutes of play.

    "I think I played really aggressive," Del Potro explained. "I made a lot of winners with my forehand. I served well. I made a very good start to this Open."

    Del Potro will face Germany's Benjamin Becker in the next round.

    Gael Monfils def. (18) Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-7(7), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-3

    Gael Monfils advanced to the second round after rallying to oust 18th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov. The 26-year-old Frenchman collected 56 winners en route to a 6-7(7), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-3 victory in two hours and 45 minutes. Monfils completed the first-round effort with seven of 16 break points converted.

    He is slated to take on veteran Yen-Hsun Lu in round two.

    (12) Marin Cilic def. Marinko Matosevic 6-4, 7-5, 6-2

    Former Australian Open semifinalist Marin Cilic is safely through following a straight-set dismissal of Australia's Marinko Matosevic. The 12th seed saved 11 consecutive break points through two hours and 22 minutes of competition. Cilic ended the match with 34 winners and nine aces.

    He will meet American qualifier Rajeev Ram for a place in the third round.
