    Brian Baker def. (5) Jerzy Janowicz 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4

World No. 59 Brian Baker is through to the second round after rallying to defeat 5th seed Jerzy Janowicz. The 27-year-old American converted two of 17 break points through to a 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 victory in two hours and 17 minutes.

"It’s definitely the toughest conditions I’ve played in an ATP match," Baker confessed. "I stayed mentally tough. I had so many chances in the match to break and get ahead and I didn’t capitalize on it. But I told myself at some point it has to go my way and then finally it did."

He will take on either wildcard Daniel King-Turner or qualifier Jesse Levine in the next round.

He is slated to face Go Soeda or Santiago Giraldo for a place in the quarterfinals.
