Bedene puts up a fight but Tipsarevic through to Chennai final Janko Tipsarevic earned a spot in Chennai's Sunday final with a defeat of Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene.

Janko Tipsarevic withstood a charge by Aljaz Bedene to move into the Chennai final. Bedene claimed the first set before going down 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to the No. 2 seed.

Bedene came out strong in the first set, converting on 1 of 4 opportunities to take the only break of the frame. Shaky serving on the part of Tipsarevic aided Bedene in taking the lead.

The Serb righted the ship in the second set. Bedene didn't get a whiff at a service break in the second set while Tipsarevic proved efficient on the return, converting on both break point chances he earned to level the match at a set a piece.

The Slovenian put up a fight in the deciding set. He faced six break points and staved off four of them. He also had a pair of break-point chances but was unable to earn any breaks back.

Tipsarevic awaits the winner of Roberto Bautista Agut and Benoit Paire in the final.
