    Brisbane- Dolgopolov, Baghdatis advance to quarterfinals Fourth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov passed into the final eight after opponent Jarkko Nieminen retired late in the match. The 2012 finalist is joined by former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis, who ousted 6th seed Florian Mayer in straight sets.

    Fourth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov is through to the last eight after veteran Jarkko Nieminen retired with a migraine. The 2012 runner-up had built a 6-2, 4-1 advantage when the Finn called it a day at the 54-minute mark. Dolgopolov ended the abbreviated match with 6 aces and four service breaks.

    He will take on 5th seed Kei Nishikori for a place in the semifinals. Nishikori defeated former World No. 5 Tommy Robredo in round two, 6-3, 6-3.

    Marcos Baghdatis def. (6) Florian Mayer 6-4, 6-2

    Former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis secured his third consecutive Brisbane International quarterfinal after ousting 6th seed Florian Mayer. The 27-year-old Cypriot struck 15 aces en route to a 6-4, 6-2 victory in an hour and 12 minutes. Baghdatis completed the day with 29 of 35 first-service points captured.

    He is slated to face 3rd seed Gilles Simon in the next round. The Frenchman dismissed Colombia's Alejandro Falla in the second round, 7-6(5), 7-6(5).
