• Ferrer moves on to Davis Cup final

    11/12/12 4:13 AM | Johan Lindahl
Ferrer moves on to Davis Cup final David Ferrer has buried his disappointment over failing to reach the World Tour Finals semis and has headed off to Prague for his last tennis duties of a long and successful season.

The 30-year-old, who is playing the best tennis of his life and leads the ATP with seven trophies this season, beat Janko Tipsarevic in his last group match at the season wrap-up but was eliminated by a complex statistical count-back system as Roger Federer and Juan Del Potro advanced from that group.

Ferrer flew out last weekend for the Davis Cup final against the Czech Republic, also featuring fellow London participant Tomas Berdych.

With Rafael Nadal out of the tennis picture for nearly half a year through injury, Ferrer has emerged as the top-producing Spaniard, whose rising indoor prowess was demonstrated with October titles back-to-back in Valencia and the Paris Masters.

But Ferrer couldn't care less about his position vis-a-vis Nadal. "I don't mind, no? For me is not important to will be No. 1 or No. 2 because every point is very important. We will try to do a very good tie, to win, and I hope to win my match and will do one point for Spain."
