• Ferrer captures first Masters crown in Paris

Ferrer captures first Masters crown in Paris David Ferrer snagged his first ever Masters 1000 title on Sunday with a straight-set victory over the Cinderella story of the week, qualifier Jerzy Janowicz.

This was an entertaining final, despite the 6-4, 6-3 scoreline. Especially in the first set, Jerzy Janowicz was able to keep pace with David Ferrer until the very last points of the set. The Pole earned himself break points on Ferrer's serve at 4-4, but the Spaniard fought them off.

Ferrer made a push on Janowicz's serve at 5-4. The underdog got to deuce, but Ferrer's return of serve proved too tough; he secured a service break and took the set right along with it.

Janowicz lost a little bit of steam in the second set. The world No. 69 lost some bite on his first serve, which allowed Ferrer to get a pair of service breaks.

Ferrer now heads to the World Tour Finals, and will be the last of the top 8 to arrive, with play scheduled to start on Monday.
