World No. 7 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced to the quarterfinal at the Masters 1000 Paris after defeating fellow seed Nicolas Almagro in straight sets. The Frenchman is joined by 8th seed Janko Tipsarevic, who beat 9th seed Juan Monaco.

Sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is guaranteed a spot at the year-end Championship in London, having ousted Spain's Nicolas Almagro Thursday evening. The 27-year-old Frenchman tallied 31 winners and 10 aces through an hour and 46 minutes of play. Tsonga, who completed the match without dropping serve, led by a mini-break at 4-2 in both sets.
He is through to take on either 4th seed David Ferrer or 16th seed Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the semifinals.
(8) Janko Tipsarevic def. (9) Juan Monaco 6-3, 3-6, 6-3
Eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic advanced to the final eight after holding off 9th seed Juan Monaco in three sets. With the match split at a set apiece, the Serbian broke to 4-2 in the decider. Tipsarevic ended the round of 16 match with six aces and 37 of 45 first-service points captured.
He is slated to meet surprise quarterfinalist Jerzy Janowicz in the next round. The Polish qualifier upset world No. 3 Andy Murray in the round of 16, 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-2.
