The Paris Masters draw continues to fall apart as Juan Martin Del Potro becomes the last in a line of dispatched seeds at the last tournament of the regular ATP season.
Thursday was another rough day at the Paris Masters for seeded players, as Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Murray were both sent packing. Del Potro's loss was particularly notable as he didn't even take a set from Michael Llodra with a 6-4, 6-3 scoreline.
Llodra played quite well, with his serve-and-volley style working successfully against Del Potro's baseline game. But the Argentine was clearly fatigued throughout the match, affecting both his movement and his pace of shot.
Del Potro did not earn a single break-point chance in the match. This was due, in part, to the quality of the Frenchman's serve on Thursday and partly because Del Potro was out of gas.
The win sends Llodra into the quarterfinals, where he awaits the winner of Sam Querrey and Milos Raonic.
