Igor Sijsling is through to the second round following his upset victory over Valencia finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov. The qualifier is joined in the second round by veteran Paul-Henri Mathieu, who held off qualifier Roberto Bautista-Agut.

World No. 18 Alexandr Dolgopolov is out of the Masters 1000 Paris, having fallen to Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling in straight sets. The 75th-ranked Sijsling tallied 8 aces and three service breaks en route to a 6-4, 6-2 victory in 60 minutes. The 25-year-old ended the opening round with 21 of 23 first-service points captured.
He is scheduled to face 8th seed Janko Tipsarevic for a place in the round of 16.

Veteran Paul-Henri Mathieu is through to the second round after holding off Spanish qualifier Roberto Bautista-Agut in straight sets. The French wildcard was broken serving for the match at 5-4, then regrouped to close at 6-5. Mathieu completed the first-round effort with five of 11 break points converted.
He will take on world No. 3 Andy Murray in the second round.
