Dolgopolov crushes Granollers to advance to Valencia semifinals The Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov made quick work of defending champion Marcel Granollers in their quarterfinal match.

Marcel Granollers chances at defending his Valencia title were over in a hour's time. Alexandr Dolgpolov dismantled the Spaniard in an hour and four minutes.

Dolgoplov displayed some of his best tennis in this 6-0, 6-2 beatdown. He was especially good in the first set. His groundstrokes clipped lines and though he only struck one ace in the set, he was completely dominant on serve. Granollers won a total of three points on Dolgopolov's serve on the way to eating a first set bagel.

The Ukrainian let up just a bit in the second set. Granollers was able to hold serve twice, though except for one break-point chance left un-converted, Granollers still didn't make a dent in Dolgopolov's serve.

Dolgopolov's victory sets up a semifinal showdown with Austria's Jurgen Melzer.
