Aussie coaches offer advice to troubled Tomic Roger Rasheed has put on his coaching cap and recommended that slumping Australian Bernard Tomic sort out his tennis with a long off-season pause and a serious think about the future.

The heir-apparent to Lleyton Hewitt has had a horror season, crashing out his third consecutive first-round match this week in Basel after admitting in China this month that he gave less than a best effort in another loss in Shanghai.

Rasheed is currently at a loose coaching end after parting ways with Gael Monfils; he also coached Hewitt a decade ago. "Ok, time for Bernard Tomic to sit down with his father & work out what he (Bernie) wants from the sport - A long term plan & Enjoyment needed," he tweeted.

The Adelaide-based fitness buff said that the 20-year-old Tomic needs to huddle with his father and figure out where he wants his tennis career to go. Tomic could well be on his way out of the top 50, as he currently stands 48th.

The youngster has not performed to expectations since January, when he reached the Brisbane semifinals in the first week of the year.

Another Adelaide-born coach has offered advice to the troubled Tomic, with Darren Cahill tweeting that the season seems to be done for the Aussie. "Someone needs to put Bernie Tomic on the flying kangaroo (Qantas). Year was done weeks ago," he wrote. "Charge up the batteries, get faster & stronger for 2013."
