Top seed Juan Martin Del Potro is through to the final four at the Erste Bank Open after defeating Australia's Marinko Matosevic in straight sets. The Argentine moves on to face veteran Gilles Muller for a place in the championship final.
World No. 8 Juan Martin Del Potro advanced to the semifinals following his straight-set ousting of Australia's Marinko Matosevic. The 24-year-old held eight of 8 break points through to a 6-2, 6-2 victory in an hour and 14 minutes.
"We played long rallies, which is better for my game as well as my body," Del Potro commented. "I felt confident with my shots, but I need to improve a little bit for my next round. (Gilles Muller is) a lefty, a serve-volleyer, and a very dangerous player. I would love to be in the final, but my next round is going to be difficult."
Del Potro completed the quarterfinal with six aces and four of 12 break points converted.
Muller dismissed Italy's Paolo Lorenzi in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-4.
