World No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic is through to the final eight at the Erste Bank Open after defeating wildcard Ernests Gulbis in straight sets. The second seed is joined in the quarterfinal by third seed Tommy Haas, who took out American Jesse Levine.

Second seed Jankio Tipsarevic advanced to the last eight following his straight-sets ousting of Latvia's Ernests Gulbis. The 28-year-old converted four of 6 break points en route to a 6-3, 6-4 victory in 78 minutes. Tipsarevic completed the second-round effort with 27 of 37 first-service points captured.
He will take on Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene for a place in the semifinals. Bedene defeated American Donald Young in the second round, 7-6(4), 6-7(2), 6-3.
(3) Tommy Haas def. Jesse Levine 6-4, 6-2
Third seed Tommy Haas is through to the quarterfinal after downing American Jesse Levine late Thursday. The veteran tallied seven aces and three service breaks through an hour and 20 minutes of play. Haas ended the 6-4, 6-2 second-round match with 84% of his first-service points won.
He is scheduled to meet qualifier Grega Zemlja in the next round. Zemlja upended Australia's Matthew Ebden in round two, 7-5, 6-4.
