Italy's Paolo Lorenzi is through to the second round at the Erste Bank Open after upsetting 7th seed Benoit Paire in straight sets. The veteran is joined by qualifier Grega Zemlja, who held on to upend 8th seed Xavier Malisse in three.

Qualifier Grega Zemlja is through to the second round following his come-from-behind victory over Belgium's Xavier Malisse. The 26-year-old rallied to a three set win, earning a match point at 7-6 in the final-set tiebreak. Zemlja ended the match with five of six break points converted.
He is slated to face Australia's Matthew Ebden or veteran Filippo Volandri in round two.

World No. 82 Paolo Lorezni advanced to the second round by virtue of his straight-sets upset of 7th seed Benoit Paire. The 30-year-old Italian held 10 consecutive service games through an hour and 25 minutes of play. Lorenzi completed the opening-round clash with 29 of 41 first-service points captured.
He is scheduled to take on either qualifier Vasek Pospisil or wildcard Andreas Haider-Maurer in the next round.
