World No. 2 Novak Djokovic has successfully made his way to the Shanghai final with a defeat of No. 4 seed Tomas Berdych.
Novak Djokovic kept his cool in the face of an increasingly agitated Tomas Berdych to defeat the Czech 6-3, 6-4, which sets up a blockbuster final with Andy Murray on Sunday.
It was immediately clear that Berdych was outmatched in this semi. The Czech quickly found himself in a hole in the first set, and was down 5-1 with Djokovic serving to dish out a breadstick. The Serb seemed to lose focus just slightly as he attempted to serve out the set and found himself at 5-2.
Berdych made another push at 5-3, earning a break point to draw level, but Djokovic pulled out a clutch first serve to wipe away the opportunity.
With the first set in Djokovic's pocket, Berdych's irritation became more apparent. Things slipped away from the underdog when Djokovic broke easily for 2-1. Berdych had no other chances to get the break back as Djokovic served out the match with a routine service game.
