• Ferrer, Tsonga featured in China Open bottom half

    10/1/12 2:43 AM | Cheryl Murray
Ferrer, Tsonga featured in China Open bottom half David Ferrer, fresh off his disappointing loss in the semifinals of Kuala Lumpur, will look to make amends in Beijing.

With no first-round bye, all of the top players in Beijing will be on tap in the opening days--including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is seeded No. 3 this week, and world No. 5 David Ferrer.

The bottom section is filled with players who could upset the top seeds. American Sam Querrey, wily German veteran Tommy Haas, and Kuala Lumpur finalist Julien Benneteau will all be hoping to play spoiler to Tsonga and Ferrer.

Ferrer has played a lot of tennis in the past few weeks, including a win in the semifinals of Davis Cup and a quarterfinal appearance at the Malaysian Open just a few days ago. Fatigue could play a factor.

Tsonga will be favored to come through the bottom section of the draw.
