Tournament seed Fabio Fognini is through to the championship final at the St. Petersburg Open, having ousted Spain’s Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets. The Italian will next face fellow seed Martin Klizan, who upset top seed Mikhail Youzhny.

Fourth seed Fabio Fognini advanced to the championship final after taking out Spain’s Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets. The 25-year-old Italian converted three of six break points en route to a 6-3, 6-4 victory in an hour and 20 minutes. Fognini completed the semifinal effort with 33 of 44 first-service points captured.

Third seed Martin Klizan made his first tour-level final, rallying to upset 2004 St. Petersburg Open champion Mikhail Youzhny. The 23-year-old converted eight of 17 break points through a marathon three hours and 49 minutes of play.
