    St. Petersburg - Youzhny holds off Garcia-Lopez Former champion Mikhail Youzhny advanced to the final four at the St. Petersburg Open, having held on to oust 7th seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The Russian is joined in the semifinals by fellow seed Martin Klizan, who defeated Ricardas Berankis.

    (1) Mikhail Youzhny def. (7) Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 0-6, 6-3

    Top seed Mikhail Youzhny is through to the semifinal after holding off 7th seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez on Friday. The veteran Russian converted three of eight break points en route to a 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 victory in two hours and 18 minutes. Friday’s win marked the first success for Youzhny against Garcia-Lopez.

    He is scheduled to take on 3rd seed Martin Klizan for a place in the championship final.

    (3) Martin Klizan def. Ricardas Berankis 6-3, 6-2

    Third seed Klizan advanced to the final four following his routine victory over Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis. Klizan tallied six aces and four service breaks through to a 6-3, 6-2 win in just 67 minutes. He completed the quarterfinal effort with 23 of 29 first-service points captured.
