Tournament seed Fabio Fognini is through to the round of 16, having rallied to upend Germany’s Tobias Kamke in three sets. The Italian is joined by veteran Lukasz Kubot, who upset second seed Denis Istomin.

Fourth seed Fabio Fognini made a successful start to the tournament after rallying to defeat Germany’s Tobias Kamke in three sets. The 25-year-old converted four of 10 break points en route to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory in two hours and 40 minutes. Fognini completed the winning effort with eight of 10 break points saved.
He is slated to face Sergiy Stakhovsky for a place in the quarterfinals.
Lukasz Kubot def. (2) Denis Istomin 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
Veteran Lukasz Kubot advanced to the second round following his three-set ousting of second seed Denis Istomin. The 30-year-old converted four of 13 break points through to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in two hours and 28 minutes. Kubot ended the match with 43 of 64 first-service points captured.
He will take on Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the next round.
